Weeks 13-15: Preparing the Footings

This is where the phrase "the first phase will be the longest" is beginning to be realized.  More digging, mostly for the footings and walls (not yet the slab at the basement floor level).  They are also beginning to install and shape the rebar in preparation for building the walls forms.

The good news is that excavation and soil removal is pretty much complete and from this point on, things are mostly being put back together.

Chris and Timothy check out the cavity that will become
footings.  They are standing in the theater, below the upper
entry and dining room.
Another view of the the theater portion of the basement that will be under
the upper entry and dining room.
Looking the other direction towards what will become bar and wine cellar.
The area of concrete that has been cut out is where the stairs will descend
from the lower entry into the basement.
A closer picture of the wine cellar portion of the basement.  And also of
Timothy making faces at the camera because everything is better with
funny faces.
Peek-a-Boo Audrey!

Random assortments of leftover objects make me smile.
